Classrooms and Spaces

The Department has 16 classrooms, four of which can accommodate more than 300 students.
Teaching spaces are mainly located on the third and fourth floors of the building.
All classrooms are equipped to support videoconferencing and distance-learning activities.
In several classrooms on the third floor, students can charge their devices using the power outlets integrated into the desks.
The Lanterna and Portovecchio classrooms, which have an elongated layout, are also equipped with a 65-inch Smart TV positioned halfway along the room.
The Department also has three computer classrooms used for lectures and tutorials:

  • two 50-seat classrooms equipped with desktop computers connected to the internet and to a network printer
  • one additional 84-seat computer classroom equipped with internet-connected laptops

The entire building is covered by the UniGe Wi-Fi network, which can be accessed using UniGePASS credentials.

In the east side of the third floor there is the “Piazza degli Studenti”, a large open-plan study area with seating for 148 students. All study stations are equipped with electrical sockets.
Another spacious room for individual study, known as “Sala Grillotti”, is located on the second floor. It is also furnished with desks fitted with electrical sockets. 
A further study room, “Ex Sala Internet”, is located on the third floor and is primarily intended for postgraduate students and group work.
In addition, the ground floor is home to the Economics branch of the Library of the School of Social Sciences, which provides extensive study areas, facilities for consulting books and journals, and access to a wide range of databases and electronic catalogues.

Teachers' offices are located on the first and second floor of the building.
