Regulations of the Center for Studies and Documentation of Economic History “Archivio Doria”

Regulations

  1. The Department of Economics (DIEC) of the University of Genoa hosts the Research Center called Centro di studi e documentazione di Storia economica “Archivio Doria”.
  2. The main purposes of the Center are:
    a) to collect, preserve, inventory, and catalogue historical documentary materials concerning modern and contemporary economic history, with particular attention to the economic history of Liguria;
    b) to allow scholars who request it to consult the materials held by the Center;
    c) to collaborate with centers and institutions that pursue the same goals and share similar areas of interest;
    d) to promote seminars, conferences, debates, and meetings on issues related to the preservation of historical documentary materials and on topics that such materials allow to be studied and explored;
    e) to promote research projects on modern and contemporary economic history and initiatives aimed at enhancing the documentary heritage preserved in the Center.
  3. The Center currently preserves the following collections:
    a) the Doria di Montaldeo Collection, consisting of the family archive donated by Professor Giorgio Doria to the Institute of Economic History of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Genoa by deed executed by Notary Alessandro Valdettaro on 30 June 1965;
    b) the Salvago Raggi Collection, consisting of the family archive loaned by N.D. Mrs. Camilla Salvago Raggi to the University of Genoa for use and preservation at the Institute of Economic History of the Faculty of Economics and Business, by deed executed by Notary Alessandro Valdettaro on 1 June 1970;
    c) the Grendi Collection, consisting of the business archive donated by Professor Edoardo Grendi to the Institute of Economic History of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Genoa;
    d) the Scuola Superiore di Commercio – Faculty of Economics and Business Collection, consisting of materials gathered by the professors of the Institute of Economic History of the Faculty of Economics and Business;
    e) the Francesco Doria Lamba Collection, consisting of the family archive loaned by the Doria Lamba heirs to the Economic History Section of the Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods on 23 June 2005;
    f) the Conservatorio Interiano Collection, consisting of the archive of the institution of the same name loaned by its legal representative to the Economic History Section of the Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods on 15 November 2010;
    g) the Parodi Family Collection, consisting of the family archive loaned by Engineer Giacomo Parodi to the Department of Economics on 7 November 2012;
    h) the Pastorino Family Collection, consisting of the family archive loaned by Engineer Giacomo Parodi to the Department of Economics on 7 November 2012.
  4. The governing bodies of the Center are the Scientific Committee and the Director.
    The Scientific Committee is composed of the professors of Economic History affiliated with the DIEC and an expert in archival science co-opted on the recommendation of the DIEC Economic History professors.
    The Director of the Center is appointed from among the members of the Scientific Committee.
    The Scientific Committee regulates the operation of the Center and the consultation procedures for the materials; it plans activities and monitors their implementation.
    The Director oversees the execution of the planned activities and ensures the proper functioning of the Center.
  5. The Scientific Committee meets at least once a year. On this occasion, it verifies the proper functioning of the Center, prepares the annual activity plan, and evaluates the Director’s report on the activities carried out during the previous year.
  6. For any matters not covered by these Regulations, reference is made to the applicable laws and regulations in force.
