Host Organisations
You may carry out a curricular traineeship with companies, public bodies, foundations, associations, professional firms and self-employed professionals that have an agreement with the University of Genoa.
Trainees
You may carry out a curricular traineeship if you are regularly enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme (or in a postgraduate programme leading to the award of an academic qualification).
Tutors
During your traineeship, you will be supported by a company tutor appointed by the host organisation and by an academic tutor.
The company tutor may not have any family or affinity relationship with the trainee up to the third degree, including the spouse. The absence of such relationships is self-certified.
You may choose your academic tutor among the tenured professors teaching courses in your degree programme who are available to take on this role. Exceptionally, subject to authorisation by the Programme Coordinator, the academic tutor may be an adjunct professor teaching a course in the degree programme or a professor from another degree programme belonging to the Department of Economics.
Requirements for traineeship activation
If you wish to activate a traineeship with CFU recognition during your Bachelor's degree programme, you must have acquired at least 90 CFU regularly recorded in your university career. This requirement does not apply to Master's degree traineeships.
Traineeship period
The traineeship must start and end during the period of enrolment in the same degree programme. Therefore:
- you may not start a traineeship during your Bachelor's degree and continue it during your Master's degree
- you may not carry out a traineeship during the "carriera ponte" transitional enrolment period or while enrolled in individual course units
- you must interrupt the traineeship if you lose your student status, i.e. if you graduate or withdraw from your studies
for each study cycle, you may carry out only one curricular traineeship with CFU recognition
CFU recognition
One CFU may be recognised for every 25 hours of traineeship.
The number of CFU recognised after completion of the traineeship depends on your degree programme. In particular, if you are enrolled in CLEA, CLEAMLT or SEF, you may choose whether to carry out a 6-CFU or a 9-CFU traineeship, while in the Bachelor's degree programme ScTur the traineeship is worth 3 CFU. If you are enrolled in a Master's degree programme, you may include a 6-CFU traineeship in your study plan.
Duration
The duration of a curricular traineeship with CFU recognition may not exceed 6 months.
Procedure
To carry out a curricular traineeship, you must:
- log in to the Traineeships and Theses Platform using your UniGePASS credentials
- ask a professor whether they are available to act as your academic tutor
- before starting your traineeship period, take the General Training Course on Occupational Safety and Health and pass the relevant final test
- follow the instructions for creating, activating, carrying out and completing the traineeship, as described in the student manual
Interruption
You may interrupt the traineeship by informing the host organisation and the Traineeship Office sufficiently in advance.
Your request for interruption must be adequately justified.
Please note that a traineeship interrupted before completion of the hours required for CFU recognition cannot be credited.
Extension
If you realise that you will not be able to complete all the hours required for CFU recognition by the scheduled traineeship end date, the host company may request an extension. The reasoned request for extension must be submitted at least three working days before the scheduled end date.
Additional point
If you are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree programme in CLEA, CLEAMLT or SEF, completion of a curricular traineeship, with or without CFU recognition, involving at least 150 hours, awards an additional point on the final degree mark.
This additional point is not available for the other degree programmes.
Recognition of traineeships not activated through UniGe
If you have completed a traineeship that was not activated through UniGe but was promoted by a third-party body authorised to promote traineeships under the regulations in force, you may request its recognition from the Coordinator of your degree programme according to the procedure set out in the Teaching Regulations of the Programme.
